Knowledge of and attitudes towards the brown bear (Ursus arctos), grey wolf (Canis lupus) and Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) and their conservation and hunting management in Slovakia were assessed in 2003-04 by written questionnaire survey. This study aimed to identify what most influenced levels of acceptance, for example geographic region (relative carnivore abundance), socio-demographic factors, level of fear, knowledge and previous experience of large carnivores, perception of population size or particular carnivore species.
